On Kevin O'Leary
By Ross Finlay
Last evening I heard Kevin O’Leary (Dragon’s Den, Lang-O’Leary Exchange) talk about his experiences and his investment philosophy. When asked what were the three things that he looks for when deciding to invest in an entrepreneur pitching on the Dragon’s Den, he gave the following list:
1. They must be able to articulate the idea in ninety seconds.
2. They have to explain why they are the right people to execute on the idea, and
3. They must exude an “aura of success”. They have the leadership qualities necessary.
I have disagreed with him a number of times in his approach to entrepreneurs on the “Den” but I couldn’t agree more with him in his top three criteria.
